Aims and Scope

Affective Computing (AC) is 'computing that relates to, arises from, or deliberately influences emotions,' as initially coined by Professor R. Picard (Media Lab, MIT). It has been gaining popularity rapidly in the last decade because it has great potential in the next generation of human-computer interfaces.

Physiological Computing (PC) relates to computation that incorporates physiological signals in order to produce useful outputs (e.g., in computer-human interaction). It mainly differs from AC in the sense that its foremost focus is not the modeling of affect but rather the utilization of physiological information generally. AC/PC raises many new challenges for signal processing, machine learning and computational intelligence.

The Computational Intelligence (CI) and Physiological and Affective Computing (AC) special session aims to bring together researchers from the three areas of CI to discuss how CI techniques can be used individually or in combination to help solve challenging AC/PC problems, and conversely, how physiological and affect (emotion) and its modeling can inspire new approaches in CI and its applications.

Content Marketing As Digital Marketing Tool (CMDMT)

Chairs

Dr Afef Ben Youssef ISET’Com, Tunis, Tunisia
 Profile

Aims and Scope

With the abundance of information, it has become very difficult to attract the attention of the audience especially with the rise of social networks, blogs and mobile applications. Indeed, in digital marketing, one of the major challenges is how to create value content to get profitable audience and consumer actions.

The main purpose is to diffuse useful information that will shape their minds. So, many think that today 'content is king'! In this field, the majority of researchers suggest that content marketing must be explained by “creating and sharing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience.

At this point, it is about helping customers, not selling to them. Content can take many forms: creating themed content, telling interesting stories, asking users for their opinion and it can consider the interests and living situations of a target market. Despite this definition, the idea of creating and using content marketing to help create a better user experience and engagement must be clarified because research in this field remains embryonic. For example, it becomes important to measure the impact of the perceived value of digital content on consumer future intentions, brand awareness or brand loyalty. In another side, it is very interesting to know what extent content marketing can influence inbound strategy or firm performance.

Topics of interest

The topics of CMDMT includes, but is not limited to the following topics:

  1. Content marketing
  2. Inbound Marketing
  3. Storytelling
  4. Branding and e-branding
  5. Video-marketing
  6. Social Media Context
  7. Mobile marketing

Aims and Scope

The amount of multimedia services has grown exponentially due to the great development of the Internet, multimedia-enabled devices and wireless Internet access. Many companies are communicating with customers through a wider use of audios, images, and videos. Those multimedia services as news broadcasting, VoD, music downloading, movie channels, on-line gambling are obtained in exchange of a payment.

The main purpose of most of multimedia content is to entertain a large audience who pays for accessing to it; however, the intellectual property and the copyright of the works traded must be protected. On the other hand, the emergence of e-commerce dealing with multimedia content has created new financial needs that in many cases cannot be effectively fulfilled by the traditional payment systems like SET and 3Dsecure. Hence all interested parties are exploring various types of electronic payment systems, issues surrounding electronic payment system and digital currency. We will try to evolve the security related problems of e-payment systems, and to find alternatives to existing traditional payment protocols to be used in multimedia services delivery and security. New algorithms and Protocols will be investigated.

Aims and Scope

The aim of this special session is to bring together researchers interested in the development of smart learning environments. Recent years have witnessed an increasing interest in the benefits of ICT in education, especially with the big advancements in technology (data storage, wireless and sensor technologies, and high bandwidth network infrastructures, etc.). As a result, the realm of learning and teaching has been changing rapidly and new paradigms have thus emerged (Massive Open Online Courses MOOCs, Open Educational Resources OER, U-Learning Ubiquitous Learning, Bring Your Own Device and Technology BYOD & BYOT, Cloud Computing in Education, Educational Data Mining, and Learning Analytics, etc.) as potential next steps in the process of transforming learning and teaching. Consequently, in higher education for example, every interaction of a student with his/her university (going to library, logging to virtual learning environment, accessing to a course, making an evaluation, submitting a homework, taking an exam, etc.) is tracked and stored. Therefore, data is being continually produced whether observed or not, in all phases of interactions of all actors involved in higher education, especially students. The produced big datasets represent a wealth that if collected, analyzed and used appropriately could participate a lot in the enhancement of education.

In fact, the interest in analyzing and using learning traces at different levels has increased in recent years, creating a new research niche, named educational data mining, and fostering a new growing research community.

Green Cloud Computing (GCC)

Chairs

Dr Zaki Brahmi ISITC, Sousse University, Tunisia
 Profile

Aims and Scope

Cloud computing opens doors to a new area where IT services are served as utility. Cloud propounds an IT infrastructure delocalized and available via Internet where processing and storage services are performed at Data Center level. Despite the success of cloud concept, it shows certain flows which are materialized as a hunger for energy consumption of the network, computing, and storage resources. Numerous reports that scrutinize Cloud energy consumption result that the Cloud is an energy monster. In 2012, Greenpeace International reports states that Cloud is the fifth in the world in the energy consumption. Such rate of energy consumption increases operational costs and poses environmental challenges with a very large CO2 emission rate. The Cloud Data Center shares a major part of this energy consumption with 2% of overall energy consumed in the world on 2011 and it continues to rise. As a solution, Cloud opts for virtualization technology.

The virtualization ensures an efficiently resource exploitation using Virtual Machines (VM) consolidation. Researchers have been developing various strategies and techniques to address all sub-problems related to VM consolidation like migration, monitoring, estimation, and placement of VMs to physical servers. Another solution to save energy consumptions is Energy-aware (service composition, scheduling, data placement, etc.). These approaches are designed to optimize performance of application and energy consumption in Clouds.

This session aims to report the latest scientific advances and stimulates continuing research in green Cloud computing, especially in resource management techniques for virtualized Clouds and Energy-aware intensive application. We cordially invite researchers to submit original research and development works.

  5. Energy-aware : Scheduling intensive workflow, service-oriented applications, data intensive service composition, etc.
  6. Optimizing resource management for processing big data applications in Clouds
  7. Intensive-data placement strategy in data center
  8. Trade-offs between performance, energy and other resources in cloud datacenters
